What a free crawler cannot tell you

Most free checkers hide these gaps behind a single confident score. We would rather tell you what is not measured.

  • Rankings and keyword demandA crawler sees your site, not Google's index. Use Search Console for real impressions, clicks and queries.
  • Backlinks and authorityLink data needs a large web index. We do not show invented authority scores.
  • Real-user Core Web VitalsLab tests and estimates are not what visitors experienced. Field data lives in Search Console and the Chrome UX Report.
  • Content rendered only in the browserWe read the HTML your server sends. Text that appears only after JavaScript runs may be undercounted.
  • llms.txtAn emerging convention. No major AI search engine has confirmed using it, so it is optional and never a big penalty.

Is the audit really free?

Yes. There is no signup, no email gate and no paid tier hiding the PDF report. Fair-use limits apply so the service stays available for everyone.

What does the audit crawl?

It reads your robots.txt and sitemap, then fetches a sample of your public pages with read-only requests. The report states how many pages were crawled and how many were found, so you always know the coverage.

How is the score calculated?

Eight categories are scored from 0 to 100 and combined with fixed weights: crawlability, on-page SEO, content and trust, site structure, structured data, AI search readiness, security and speed. Each issue lowers its category by severity and by how many pages it affects. A higher score means fewer and milder problems in what we could measure. It does not predict rankings.

Will fixing everything get me to number one?

No. An audit finds technical and on-page problems that hold a site back. Rankings also depend on content quality, links, competition and search intent, none of which a crawler can fully judge.

Are the speed numbers real Core Web Vitals?

Only when the report says it used Google PageSpeed Insights, and even then those are lab results from a single test. Otherwise the speed section is labelled as an estimate from server response, page weight and compression. Real-user Core Web Vitals come from Search Console or the Chrome UX Report.

Does it cover AI search like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews?

It checks the basics you control: whether AI crawlers are allowed in robots.txt, whether pages have clear structure and structured data, and whether an optional llms.txt file exists. No AI search engine has confirmed that llms.txt affects citations, so we treat it as optional.

Is my data stored?

You do not need an account or an email address. The domain you enter is used to run the audit, and results may be cached briefly so repeat checks are fast. The PDF is built from the results in your browser session when you ask for it.
